Exhibition continues 22nd November - 9th December 2010

www.union105.org.uk

For Propellart, Contents May Vary will present the outcome of their Boatelier journey through the waterways of the Rochdale Canal, Social, Liberal and Working Men's Clubs, 24 hour artist residencies and exchanges with those further a field. Music, writing, rubbish, drawing, drinking maybe even drowning are the fruits of their labours on display in the gallery in the city away from the water channels. The collections created aboard Boatelier form the basis of this exhibition at Union 105 and combined with documentation of the process, visitors will discover a snapshot of a week in the lives of Contents May Vary and the artists in residence aboard a narrow boat in the Calder Valley. All are welcome to experience the experiences and to ask what they will of those involved.

Boatellier and Propellart are part of Over Yonder in collaboration with East Street Arts, a project containing the efforts of many collectives and institutions in both the Aire-Calder Valley and Ruhr Vallery in Germany. Contents May Vary is an artist collective of limited means other than savvy and gall. They show anywhere with a roof and sometimes without. There work is informed and informal, giving their audience of all walks a varied artistic experience.

Contents May Vary will also be giving a talk at Union 105 on Collaboration and Collectivity, Wednesday 24th November, 5-7pm, as part of East Street Arts' Weds@105 Series 2. Free and informal.

Boatelier

Boatelier

Saturday 16th October - Thursday 21st October 2010

Rochdale Canal, Calder Valley, West Yorkshire, UK

As part of Over Yonder in collaboration with East Street Arts' Social Club 2010, Contents May Vary have produced Boatelier which uses the alternative, ready-made exhibition and performance space of a narrow boat navigating the Rochdale Canal for the location of an exhibition of three event-based works. Each artist has produced a participatory event for Boatelier which takes the idea of connecting the twinned locations of the Aire and Calder Valley in West Yorkshire, England and the Ruhr Valley in Germany and explores the social, historical and political similarities and differences.

From the 16th to the 21st of October, Contents May Vary will moor at advertised locations where they will present their event based works. Throughout each event they will collect artefacts which will be added to a collection on board the boat, accumulating throughout their journey.

Artists In Residence will join the Boatelier crew and present additional exhibits that will form part of the Boatelier collection.

Contents May Vary invite members of the public aboard the boat to experience the collection and the results of the events. Refreshments will be provided and visitors can discuss everything from art to boating with the artists.

Saturday 16th October, 17.00-19:00: Sowerby Bridge
Sunday 17th October, 15.00-17:00: Todmorden
Monday 18th October, 18.00-20:00: Hebden Bridge

Wednesday 20th October, 18.00-20:00: Sowerby Bridge
